Here she finally is. 2020 Isuzu NPR HD, 6.0 V8 gas, with a lovely 18’ Collins body and a tuckaway Max on gate. It’s a bit of a step up from our 2007 GMC Savana with a 16’ box.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

It’s gonna take some getting used to the driving position, I’ve never driven anything cabover before. Hopefully I’ll get to take it for a test drive next week before I have to go too far with it.

The cab over feels very vulnerable when driving, but makes parking a breeze.

You'll hit curbs with the back wheels the first few times driving it. Sitting on top of the steering axle is werid.

I would assume. Weirdly enough my boss said it was super smooth to drive, but maybe he was only on smooth roads

I drove one of those (with the diesel) 500 miles round trip on a move once. They’re not an uncomfortable ride, even the 250 miles unloaded. If Isuzu and the up fitter spec ing the truck originally did their jobs, they should be sprung quite nicely to match the intended application.

I prefer the Mitsubishi PRI.

I think you said it was gonna be all city but still, don’t hit anything, I don’t think even 2020s have airbags, and obviously no crumple zone but your legs. I saw a really nasty wreck last year, really made me rethink driving mine, I still have two but I have a nice 2015 f450 flatbed that I use whenever possible now.

Yeah, I’ll rarely go over 70km/hr in it. I definitely don’t plan on hitting anything, and yeah, no airbag. I’m generally leaving lots of room to slow down smoothly anyways, due to often fragile cargo.

make sure you know your overall height.

i’m curious to see a few engine bay pics. as all the Isuzus down here have diesel motors

Well sounds like it’s a good fit for you, they are pretty easy to drive that’s for sure. My f450 does turn surprisingly well, maybe a little worse than the cabovers but it’s a longer wheelbase too I think, but it takes more confidence with so much hood  in front of you. Like it is probably pretty similar on paper, but irl it feels huge/worse anyways. I do lots of highway though and not too much city these days so it's way better for my purposes, took forever to convince my boss to get it though because our company used to do more work downtown so he loved the cabovers but we just don't any more and this is so much better towing and on the highways.

I’ll see how easy it is to get the cab tipped over so we can see the V8. I think this engine is a north america only option.
